The Western Wine Region – King, Pollak & Veritas – From Downtown
3 Stops • 5-6 Hours w/ Tasting Fees Included • Up to 14 pax
It’s as much about the scenery as it is for the wine, this three-winery tour begins in historic downtown Charlottesville and we head to the western frontier of the Monticello Wine Trail. A few of the things we love about this tour is that not only we are visit a region known for its wines, the views of the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains are incredible – you may never want to leave.
Our first vineyard will be Crozet’s King Family Vineyards, known for its Crosé Rosé and regular Sunday polo matches- historically one of the most publicly attended matches in the world. We will then head down a winding, tree-lined Virginia road to Pollak Vineyards, where along the way we’ll pass by a The White House. No, not that White House but an architecturally true replica of the original 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. At Pollak, you can sip a bright Cab Franc on the veranda or inside the tasting room with a view of the adjacent lake. Our final stop is Veritas Vineyards, a 50-acre vineyard founded by a neurologist and nurse who, having raised their family, decided to pursue a more viniferous passion. Veritas is not only known in the region for their wines but also their summer evening concert series, Starry Nights. Drink in the rolling property (and a glass of Veritas’ award-winning Petit Manseng) until the sun begins to set.
